Expressions of Interest – Historic Eligibility Officers

The Australian Historic Motor Sport Commission (AHMSC) is seeking expressions of interest from persons across Australia with the requisite skills, experience, passion and time to undertake the important role of Historic Eligibility Officer (HEO) for any number of the historic vehicle groups outlined below:

A   Touring Cars 1984 – 1992
C   Touring Cars 1973 – 1984
N   Touring and Production Touring Cars pre 1958 (Na), pre 1965/App J (Nb) and 1965 – 1972 (Nc)
S   Production Sports Cars 1941 – 1960 (Sa), 1961 – 1969 (Sb) and 1970 – 1977 (Sc)
T   Production Sports Cars 1941 – 1981/Factory Competition Variants 1941 – 1977
U   Sports Sedans pre 1986
J, K, L   Vintage and Post-Vintage Sports and Racing Cars and Specials pre 1930 - 1960
F   Formula Ford pre 1978 – 1983 & pre-1990
F5000   Formula 5000 pre 1978
M   Sports and Racing Cars 1961 - 1965
O   Sports and Racing Cars 1966 - 1969
P   Sports and Racing Cars 1968 - 1972
Q   Sports and Racing Cars 1970 - 1977
R   Various Sports and Racing cars 1979 – 1986 (including F1, F2, F3, FB, AF2, Clubman, Sports 2000)
V   Formula Vee pre 1975 – 1985

HEOs are responsible for the inspection of historic vehicles whose owners wish to obtain a Certificate of Description (COD). This is a voluntary position, with the successful candidate reporting to the Chairman of the relevant Eligibility Committee. The position will sometimes involve travel to conduct vehicle inspections at a time that is convenient to both parties.

HEOs are also required to assist with matters regarding eligibility, attend historic events as required and may be called upon by the Eligibility Committee or AHMSC to provide technical assistance and advice.

Ideal candidates will have good interpersonal skills and sound technical knowledge and experience with vehicles from the group/s concerned.

This is a fantastic opportunity for passionate, enthusiastic people to assist the AHMSC in managing this diverse range of vehicles. Successful applicants will be provided with an induction and will be assigned a mentor as part of the appointment.
